Thomas A. Kuhns, Jr. founded West Interior Services Inc. in 1973. He chose to focus on furniture & woodwork refinishing and restoration because he always enjoyed and excelled at working with furniture, but didn't want to compete with his family's well established upholstery business.   

West Interior Services' first location was in West Tarentum, PA (hence the name West Interior Services) just Northeast of Pittsburgh, and employed only 2 craftsmen.  Despite its size, the tiny shop maintained steady clientele due to Tom and his employee’s excellent work. Soon, the business outgrew its location. As the years passed, West went through many incarnations & locations, growing in size all the while. Today, West Interior Services is based at a 12,500 square foot facility in Lower Burrell, PA and employs a full time staff of approximately 15.   

West’s craftsmen have worked on restoration projects up and down the US East Coast.

Here at West Interior Services, we are passionate about furniture & wood work restoration, refinishing, & rejuvenation.  We have been in the business of providing furniture & woodwork refinishing, repair, & restoration to the private, commercial, & third sectors for over 47 years.  In addition, we have been handling insurance and moving damage claims for just as long.  

Our craftsmen & claims inspectors have had the pleasure of working on projects for a variety of clientele ranging from local folks to national van lines and insurance companies.  We've worked in numerous locations from historic houses near our home base in the Greater Pittsburgh Area to hurricane damaged churches in the southern states.
